The New Tech City

Jul 31

Grays Inn Road-214

Kings Cross. The urban area on the edge of zone 1 that was the former home to a number of ladies called Roxanne…

So why has this once controversial location become London’s leading area for the tech industry? Here are our 5 reasons why…

Voted as one of the best stations in the world (but we think it’s no.1), Kings Cross St. Pancras International is the only station in London that offers high-speed services across Europe. With the tech industry shaping the future of the world and expanding from London into other major cities, it is essential you and your team can be in another time zone within a matter of hours.

Google, obviously!

Residents since 2016 and already they need more space. Brexit who??? I’m sure you have all seen Google’s outrageous new plans by now but we are still in awe of them. I mean a running track, indoor sports hall and a swimming pool!? We like to think that we have cool workplaces but wowserz. All we can say is that we are glad Google don’t do serviced offices. Anyway, no one likes being a sheep but if the revolutionary giants that are Google moved to Kings Cross and the likes of Facebook followed, then you should probably just admit defeat and get hunting for your new office. We can certainly think of worse neighbours to have….

Talking of neighbours, our newest client at 175-185 Grays Inn Road, Colossus Bets have just moved into their newly refurbished floor. Charlotte Farr, Business Development Manager comments, “It is an exciting time at Colossus and we now have a new, modern base at Grays Inn Road in Central London to house our next stage of expansion. Our 30-strong and rapidly growing team will benefit from a large open plan space, which reflects our flat structure and allows everyone to see and hear everything that goes on, fully participating in the Colossus success story. Karen and The Boutique Workplace team have done an incredible job in overseeing the renovation of the first floor for us and we could not be more grateful to be in such a modern office in the centre of London”.

A little bit of rural in the city

When everyone thinks of London, they think high-rise, over-populated but what makes this city a real cultured gem is all the little bits of personality that still runs through it’s busy veins. So it’s a nice surprise to come across a decadent canal in the middle of this industrial warehouse zone. Step away from the madness called your desk and enjoy the blissful Regent’s Canal and feel human for all of an hour.

The bearded men are relocating

Generations come and go but beards still remain. They have just moved! After the Central St. Martin’s College picked itself up and skateboarded to Granary Square, the next set of creative geniuses had to move too. Bringing youth to the area means that Kings Cross officially appeals to all age groups. And how handy is it that when they qualify they can step straight into Google opposite their college and fulfill their lifelong dream. Do they ever escape the tech-monster that is Kings Cross? The answer is NO, why would they!?

Flexible workspace

You might be on the Kings Cross mile long (or should we say running track long) waiting list for office space but now that serviced office providers are continuing to open new building’s in Kings Cross, your prayers have been answered. Landlords see and appreciate the growth in demand for flexible space and believe that serviced offices are a great opportunity and investment for their empty property. This allows us to open a door within 24 hours for all large and small businesses crying out to be in their much-desired tech city as soon as possible. Check out our creative Kings Cross location here – 175-185 Grays Inn Road.

King's Cross Serviced Office Space

A valued client of ours since 2016 – Jaguar Land Rover, creators of InMotion have been through the frustrating experience of seeking office space in Kings Cross but not being able to find it. And then they landed on our desk. Unfortunately, at the time our site on Grays Inn Road was unavailable so they took a fabulous 2500sqft floor plate in our amazing Shoreditch location on Curtain Road. Curtain Road has served them well but the heart wants what the heart wants and the business needs what the business needs. Thankfully after a full refurbishment at Grays Inn Road, we were able to offer our wonderful and loyal client a self-contained floor fitted out to their specification. And a year on, they will be content in their new home in the new tech-city.

Meg George, Office Manager comments “”We chose to move to the Kings Cross area because some key members of our team commute in from the Midlands, and Kings X is becoming a bit of a tech hotspot! We wanted to make the commute easier for everyone and be well placed for networking with similar companies. The Grays Inn Road offices are being remodelled as we speak, but the plans look amazing! We’re really looking forward to relocating this fall and staying with the Boutique Workplace”.

Grays Inn Road will reopen in September and will have office space available. Email to register your interest now or contact our team on 020 3405 7000.
