Soho is an area of the City of Westminster and part of London’s West End. Its name comes from an old hunting cry and was passed on to its first major square, Soho Square, that was laid out in the 1680s. Formerly known as a residential hotbed for the aristocracy and upper classes, Soho has since evolved to take on diverse purposes, mixing the residential with commercial and cultural attractions.
From a business standpoint, Soho is most associated with the creative industries. Resident businesses include music labels, advertising agencies, fashion designers, media studios, tech startups, and more. Its popularity as an office location is partly because of the area’s creative energy, but it’s also a product of the great location, putting it in close proximity to other major hubs like Covent Garden, Mayfair, and Fitzrovia.
Soho’s central location in London means it provides excellent transport connections to the rest of the city. Nearby Underground stations include Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Circus, and Tottenham Court Road, all in easy walking distance. They provide access to the Piccadilly, Bakerloo, Central, Northern, and Elizabeth lines.
And, although there isn’t a mainline station within Soho itself, Charing Cross is just a 10 minute walk away which means you’re in touching distance of National Rail services that can take you to other major towns and cities across the UK.
