What you need to know about Wimbledon

Wimbledon is synonymous with the world’s most famous tennis tournament, but this area of South West London has much more going for it than an annual event. In fact, Wimbledon has been inhabited since at least the Iron Age, when a hill fort in Wimbledon Common was thought to have been constructed. The area has seen a lot of development since then, and notably became a popular neighbourhood for affluent residents through the 18th and 19th centuries.

In recent decades, that development has seen Wimbledon become a well-rounded area that offers a little bit of everything, from parkland to shopping, making it a great place for a workspace. From the Centre Court shopping centre to the Wimbledon Museum, there’s plenty to see and do. And, importantly, you’re never far from the hustle and bustle of London’s centre, with excellent transport connections.

Transport connections

Wimbledon, thanks in part to its appeal to tourists, has excellent links with central London that benefit businesses basing themselves in the area. Wimbledon station offers both Underground and mainline services. The District line opens up a direct route to Westminster and the City of London while National Rail connections provide easy access to commuter towns and cities.

It’s also connected to the Croydon Tramlink, connecting Wimbledon seamlessly to other nearby destinations like Croydon, Beckenham Junction, and New Addington.
