Aldgate is where the City stops and the East End begins; the financial district is on one side and Shoreditch is on the other. That means businesses from both worlds – finance, tech and creative – thrive here. It’s an area that’s changing rapidly, and you can be right at the heart of it; our well kitted-out workplace at Middlesex Street is within spitting distance of Spitalfields Market!
Aldgate is on the boundary between the City and the East End, and the mix of work clothes reflects that – you’re just as likely to see suits as you are sneakers as financial services and insurance firms rub shoulders with tech companies and creative agencies. And now that the Elizabeth line stops at nearby Liverpool Street and Whitechapel, the area has become even more appealing, as it’s connected directly to Canary Wharf and Heathrow. There’s always been a buzz to the area though.
Spitalfields Market, the Truman Brewery complex and Brick Lane are just five minutes from Aldgate East station. The walls around Brick Lane and Hanbury Street are basically an open-air street art gallery, the Truman Brewery was once the largest brewery in the world and now houses independent studios, galleries, markets and events that have made it a hub for east London’s creative community. Spitalfields Market, meanwhile, is right next door and has become a lively spot for independent fashion and food.
